Knowing your studying strategy = Better grades, faster
Written By: Olivia LePage ~ 2/9/2023

Every new academic year, we have renewed intentions with being better organized and studying harder. The thing is, we tend to stick with the same methods hoping for different results. It likely won’t work, and we know it. So let me show you a better way, your way.

Your first step is to identify your learning style. To do this, go to Determine My Learning Style (how-to-study.com) It takes about 5 mins to finish the quiz.

Now that you know your results, here are some ideas you can start with:

For visual learners, convert your notes, or text into diagrams, draw pictures or create a quick visual presentation for yourself using Canva, Adobe, etc.

Audio learners, convert your notes and texts into “read aloud” format found in Microsoft Word, Chrome-google, read-aloud apps read to someone also voice memos, make rhymes, make songs, mnemonics (for example: remembering Great Lakes: Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, Ontario. = HOMES)

Kinesthetic learners: chew gum, tap your foot, be physically active while reading, squeeze a stress ball, act out or imagine the content as an actor in a movie.

Tactile Learners: It's all about touching something that represents the content. It may be a picture of an event with dates, or a drawing of a cell with labels made of various colors and textures. Or you can arrange small note cards in multiple stacks that make sense to you.

Finding your way of studying is half the battle for getting good grades. It will take less time to study, and you will remember contents, and concepts faster.

These are only a few examples. I am certain there are many more. I'd love to hear what works for you. Stay motivated 😊 You can do this!
